Speak Up: Using Structured Academic Discussion to Analyze Primary Sources
The purpose of this presentation is to share a protocol that I created with the help of our site Instruction Coach. In our research about English Learner and Long-Term English Learners, we saw that one primary gap is in the area of speaking. Based on classroom observations, we developed a discussion model to support academic speaking in history classes. This model integrates reading, writing, thinking, and speaking about history and primary source documents
